The latest buzz in both cinema and TV is 3D. Movies like Avatar, which were shown in 3D have created a demand for 3D to Home. The recent CES (Consumer Electronics Show) has seen the introduction of this year to be available at home of 3D HDTVs will be this spring. This is the next Step in HDTVs, the Black and have gone white in color, high definition, and now 3D. This means to be a huge step forward. A 3-D TV requires two more Elements that are not on 2D-screen TVs. Special 3D glasses, and a channel from the television that the shutter speed is controlled by the glasses to make it in synch.

For 2010 Sony to launch three models in the 3D situation. All these models come with LED-backlit 1080p LCD HDTVs with 240Hz technology. The top of the line XBR-LX900-series has local dimming LED-backlit display and offers integrated 3D functionality (glasses and transmitter). The other two models (XBR KDL-HX900 and HX800) are 3D-ready (Sony shutter glasses active and transmitter are sold separately). These models use edge lit LED backlight.

Panasonic is in this great 3D year with the introduction of several 3D-Plasma-TVs from 50 inches to 65 inches. The first will be in spring Express. The new 3D VT25 series will offer full 1080p both left and right eye. They are to 5,000,00 1 native contrast feature and a new type of phosphorus in the screen that the TV can provide a smooth to a faster transition to a 3D image. This line also has a 100,000 Hour panel life. Panasonic is also introducing a full-HD camcorder for 3D professional applications (with a price of about $ 21,000).

DIRECTV has announced that they bring in addition to three special 3D HD channels this year on 3D-TV in the home. DIRECTV and Panasonic are in a strategic partnership, where Panasonic be the exclusive Presenting Sponsor. Panasonic will also 3D production tools, and full HD camcorder. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that it will deliver 3D content on Blu-ray discs this summer. Sony is also introducing 3D-compatible Blu-ray players. From what we read have the new 3D format is about 50% require more memory than the 2D version of the same film. The PS3 can make a firmware update, 3D-compatible. (A 3D-enabled TV will be required).

ESPN has announced that they have one of the first dedicated 3D television networks by broadcasting the first game of the World Cup between Mexico and South Africa in 3D. They also plan to broadcast 85 live sporting events in the first year.

As the year progresses, we expect that the standards View in 3D for TV and more manufacturers release 3D models and Blu-ray player. To remain competitive, the cable companies have the challenge that DIRECTV to meet the thrust, stock it with this great leap forward for the 3-D programming. There should be an exciting year for television. Time will tell whether or not to 3D the next big thing, or just a gimmick.
