The games will be in the PostFinance Arena in Bern Schluefweg played in Kloten. Bern is the stronghold of European ice hockey and is all set to drive traffic to this beautiful city welcome. This is the 73rd Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland and it was 11 years ago instead.

Participating teams are:
Group A: This team has Belarus, Canada, Hungary and Slovakia.
Group B: The team did France, Germany, Russia and Switzerland.
Group C: This team has Austria, Latvia, Sweden and United States.
Group D: This team has the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland and Norway.

Preliminary round:
Sixteen participating teams will be divided into four groups. After playing a round robin, the top three teams in each group will then be in the qualification round, while the last team In the relegation round is completed.

Round:
The top three in the rankings of individual groups of the preliminary round advance to the qualifying round and are divided into two groups, teams from Group A set to compete in Group E, and teams from Groups B and C compete in Group F. Each team has three games in this round one against each of the three games from the other group, have been paired with them. These three games, played together with the two games already against the other two teams ahead of the same Group in the preliminary round, one in the qualifying round of the placement. The top four teams in this group, E and F will advance to the playoff round.

Relegation Round:
The two top teams in the standings after the round robin will be invited back in the 2010 IIHF World Cup, while the bottom two will descend the 2010 Division I Tournament will.

– Semi-finals: – 8 May between Quarter 1 and Quarter-winning 4 and the second is also on the 8th May between the winners of quarterfinals of 2 and 3
– Bronze Medal Game: – 9 May between losers Semi-final 1 and 2nd semi-final losers
– Gold Medal Game: – 10 May between the winners of semi final 1 and 2
